Thank You For Sharing!
Seeing those pictures... it just bolsters my love of education and reaching out to those young, inquiring minds! Having taught in an elementary school, I'm curious how different is the curriculum there from what you might find in an American school? Having 50 students (I can't even imagine) in a classroom most certainly impacts the teaching methodologies used. I come from the "small groups" learning environment, how might a teacher at the schools you've been to address students at varying levels/needs?Thank you for sharing your experiences... and those great photos. Have an amazing time!Monika
Get Linked
Any chance we could link these schools up with others around the world? Online projects? Penpal or E-pal? What a great learning experience this would be for all! -Monika
Soweto students
Seeing the photos of the primary students is inspiring even from here. They seem so excited to be learning....stretching their hands up to be recognized, attentive when someone is speaking in front of the room. Wouldn't it be great to beem up some of our US kids so they could be sitting among these blue sweatered enthusiasts and experience this love of learning. It's wonderful to think video is truly their window to the outside world. And that the content we work with everyday makes a difference in their lives. Adam, your blog makes me want to collect all the pencils & work supplies in my house and send them to that very group in Isu'Lihle school. Thanks for all the rich details.Btw...it's over 100 degrees here. 41 degrees sounds like heaven.
