The Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho

Through some heavy rain and subsequent massive puddles, I made my way to Wat Pho, one of the most famous of all wats (Temples) here in Bangkok. You might have seen the reclining Buddha, as it's known, in the movie The Beach (With Leonardo Dicapprio). Head and arm detail of the reclining Buddha The Buddha is around 46 meters (138 Feet) long and 15 meters (45 Feet) high. The Buddha is completely covered in gold and depicts the Buddha’s passing into Nirvana. Wat Pho is considered Thailand’s first university, being the first to offer education to the public. It is also considered the center for the traditional Thai masage (where you can still receive an hour-long message for around 250 Baht). Covering an area of around 20 acres, it is the largest Wat in Bangkok, and built two centuries before Bangkok became the capital, after Ayuthaya was destroyed by Burmese forces in 1767. Standing by the Reclining Buddha, I felt dwarfed by its massive size. walking around all day, the Buddha also made me feel as though I should take a little break and recline myself under a tree somewhere! Instead, I went for lunch by the river... Shooting someone snapping away...
